About
I am a Social Work England registered Social Worker and NSPCC Accredited child protection trainer.
I bring over 25 years of safeguarding experience, starting my career in the 1990s working with young people in residential care settings. Driven by a desire to make a difference, I qualified as a Social Worker in 2001 and have since held various positions within Statutory Social Work teams, including child protection, hospital-based work, support for disabled children, and early help. I played a key role in a Local Authority implementing Early Support for children with disabilities and the Common Assessment Framework, where I first began designing and delivering training. Additionally, I spent five years in schools as a Designated Safeguarding Lead, integrating my social work skills into the education sector.
Since 2010, I have been offering training and consultancy services alongside my other roles. In 2019, I transitioned to full-time self-employment, embracing the challenges delivering services during the pandemic with resilience! I am deeply committed to supporting others with their safeguarding and child protection duties, always ensuring that the voice of the child is central to my work.
Through training, consultancy, and supervision, I share my knowledge and empower others to uphold statutory duties and foster strong safeguarding cultures within their organisations.
I collaborate with a diverse range of professionals and organisations, including those in education, early years settings, sports, charities, child counselling, and Local Authorities.
In addition to my Social Work degree (BA Hons), I hold an MSc in Social Research and serve as Vice Chair and Safeguarding Link Governor at a Secondary School, and Chair of a Local Scout Trustee Board.
